Becoming Ecological Workshops -

Is This for Me?

Our Intention and Ecological Practice

An important intention of ours is to engage in the trouble that comes with the various contemporary crises. An example of this being that we are asking people to travel to us in Suffolk, whilst knowing that fossil fuel use is a key factor in climate collapse.

This involves sitting the less than certain, in-between spaces when the wider culture obliges us to take sides in a binary dynamic. In other words, we are seeking ways in which we might find integrity whilst accepting our personal and collective complicity in systems designed to disconnect.

If you have already made up your mind about saving the world, this might not be for you.

Who Gets the Most Out of Our Workshops?

The people who get the most out of our work tend to be already familiar with being outside and for long periods of time (In the past five years we have worked under cover for less than a couple of days in total).

They tend to be curious about what happens somatically when we meet the outdoor realm and are open to the idea of movement practice (You do not need any prior experience of working with the body – just a curiosity about what that might be like!).

You will likely be working with people in the support professions and might be qualified, or undertaking other professional development (And, you might also want to attend to develop your own personal ecological practice). It’s helpful when people come prepared to work from 'the ground up’, which is different from those bringing a prior theoretical framework with which to ‘fit’ ecological work into (And, it’s OK to come ready for some de-schooling!)

Our work is less effective for those who see nature as a place of retreat. We do not offer ‘nature breaks’.

Our work is not suitable for those interested in simply taking ‘indoor’ work ‘outdoors’. We don’t train for ‘walk and talk’ practice.
